P90X Final Progress Report
Well, well, well. Look who finally decided to show up and share final numbers. I know, I’m the worst and I’m sorry. I appreciate everyone who has continued to visit my blog, especially those of you looking for info about P90X. I really can’t believe it has been 7 months since my last post. It has been a tumultuous few months which is all I can say in terms of an excuse. Highlights included 5 weeks of grand jury duty, looming unemployment AGAIN as my firm dissolved and filed for bankruptcy (Yikes) and 4 months getting accustomed to a new job. Needless to say, blogging wasn’t a top priority for me.
Anyway, enough with the excuses, I know you’re all eager to hear how P90X worked out for me so, without further ado, here are my numbers as I progressed through P90X. The final numbers are at the bottom. As before, I’ve shown the change from the previous numbers in parantheses (difference from Day 1), brackets (difference from Day 30) and bolded (difference from Day 60).

As you can see, the biggest changes were in my weight (almost 11 pounds!) and my hips. The rest of my measurements seem like they might be wrong given how inconsistent they all are, but you get the picture. In retrospect I probably should have waited for a time when my husband was home rather than trying to measure my arms myself.
I wish I could say that P90X changed my life and that I kept the weight off and became a fitness buff. Unfortunately that couldn’t be further from the truth. I gained all the weight back (and then some) and continued to eat like a pig (they opened a Shake Shack in DC, can you blame me?). It was only a couple months ago that I got completely fed up with myself and started exercising regularly again. I’m not doing P90X. I think maybe if I find the motivation to do it a couple of times, I might get back into it. But getting over the mental hurdle of actually starting again has been a problem. For now, I am running 4-5 times per week. I was visiting the gym at work 3 times a week (and actually following some of the P90X worksheets while there) but I have since stopped that and have focused solely on running.
I’ve also realized that I don’t need to make elaborate meals for dinner every night. In fact I realized that the less delicious the dinner, the less I eat and in my case, portion-size is the biggest culprit in my seemingly never-ending struggle with weight gain. Now most nights (when I’m not eating a Shackburger), I either grill or bake chicken breasts, seasoned with salt and pepper, and serve with brown rice and salsa (I love Safeway-brand Peach and Pineapple Salsa), along with a vegetable (either canned or fresh). I eat about half a chicken breast and less than a cup of brown rice and that’s plenty for me. So I’m trying to make changes to maintain a healthy lifestyle but who knows how that will work out. I am just not very good at it. I wish I had a personal chef (or a husband who cooks) so I wouldn’t even have to think about it. It’s just so much easier to pick up a burger and fries on my way home, since I pass Shake Shack every freaking day to and from work. Sigh. I’m trying and I realize that I’m now at an age (31 … bleh) that I can’t keep eating unhealthy foods and not exercising and expect to be thin, like I could in my 20′s. Getting old sucks. That’s really the moral of my story and the end of my P90X journey. I’m sorry if I’ve disappointed any readers out there. Hopefully you’ll have more willpower than me!
Have I mentioned I love Shake Shack?
I’ve only read this entry and the first entry on your experience with P90X…you probably gained the weight back because you were eating at too big a deficit and wrecked your metabolism.
